THE LAST CHANCE MERCANTILE
The Last Chance Mercantile is Open for Business
Get your pocket books and coin purses ready because the Last Chance Mercantile will again offering a slew of treasures. Antique textiles, vintage ceramics, Depression glass, pewter and tarnished silver, rusty garden ornaments, and shabby architectural details can quite accurately describe the majority of items the Mercantile will be offering.
Stocked solely from donations kindly made by the residents of Greenville and surrounding communities, all sales benefit the Garst Museum.
A diverse array of pieces will be offered on both Saturday 10:00-8:00 and Sunday 11:00-5:00. Good deals and lovely finds are sure to be had. Pop into the Last Chance Mercantile because, as the name claims, it may just be your “last chance” to get your hands on a rare treasure!
Serving Libations Since 2015
It’s late July in Ohio, and you just know it’s gonna be hotter than 2 hamsters farting in a wool sock. So, get on over to the Lewis and Clark Trailside Tavern and get cooled off with an ice-cold beer or glass of wine. What could be better?
David Nilsen, our beer scout, has tracked to the far ends of the woods to bring back some of the best brewskis from Moeller Brew Barn. All in all, the inventory of craft beer sounds refreshing and plentiful so shimmy up to the counter at the Trailside and throw one back.
Now ladies, if beers’ not your thing, don’t dismay. David covered all the bases by inviting local hot spot, A.R. Winery to join the fun.
Now see… all this beer and wine will definitely make a hot July day feel ….and smell better.
A GATHERING OF ART
We are thrilled to share this special invitational art exhibit with the visitors to the Gathering at Garst. It is sponsored by Darke County Endowment for the Arts and a Friend of the Museum.
This exhibit displays the diverse works of 10 artists who will be on hand to discuss and sell their pieces. Make certain you stop by the tent to visit with these artists and chat with them about their inspiration.
Are you a kid looking for fun?
We aren’t talking about the make believe fun you find playing video
games. How Boring!!!
This is real time fun like cannons firing right in front of your eyes and Indians, trappers and fur traders in their camps. You can talk to them and see their cool stuff. Even offer to trade for some of their awesome things they have laid out on their trading blankets. You gotta have stuff to trade though…you know like turtle shells, fossils, old rusty things. That’s what they like. Bring it along.
Now for you little grasshoppers, we have some fun things planned for you. How about a Pony Express
Challenge. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes to stay on one of our bucking, crazy noodle ponies as you
deliver mail to Annie Oakley, Little Turtle and Mad Anthony Wayne.
Wanna get your hands dirty? No problem. Visit the “Archeology…Can You Dig It” tent right next to the Pony Express Challenge. There you will find a sand pit ready for you to explore. We heard there’s treasure in that thar pit and you gotta find it.
Wanna shoot like Annie Oakley? We got that too. Go around front of the museum and there you
will find Annie Oakley and her cool shooting gallery. You can visit with Annie and find out all about her
amazing life. Take a try at her shooting gallery and see if you are a sure shot too.
Annie will be on stage Saturday and Sunday at 2:30. Don’t miss it. Oh did we mention cannons and carriage rides? We got em. You will see and hear both of these at the Gathering at Garst.
The cannons will fire at 11-1-3-5 and 7 on Saturday and at 11-1-3-4:30 on Sunday. Ready, Set, BOOM!
Join the Pony Express! Young Pony Riders ages 3-10 willing to ride a bucking "noodle" pony across country to deliver mail...can you do it? Step right up!!
